Hi guys, I’m Gill!
I started Cooking With Gill a little over a year ago when I decided I wanted to teach anyone who thinks they can’t cook that they can! I’m self-taught like most of you,
and I constantly make mistakes (a few favorites are when I doubled the oil in a brownie recipe but absolutely nothing else. Or the time where I mixed up salt with sugar. Or the time I touched my eyes after cutting up jalapeños. Or the time … well, you get the idea).
The point is, we are all learning, and if anyone says they know everything there is to know about cooking, they’re 1) lying and 2) probably a bad cook, or at least an arrogant one.
The thing is, you don’t have to be rich or have tons of time to be a great cook; you’ve just got to have heart.
Aside from being an amateur chef, I’m a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I study journalism and I am the Managing Editor for Reporting at The Daily Illini. I’m also a part of DeBono Musical Improv team. In short, I love to cook and make people laugh. Sometimes, my cooking accomplishes both of these things!
I hope you follow along on this site and have a blast cooking along with me! If you ever try to make one of my recipes, share it with me! I love to see your posts.
xoxo- Chef Gill
